- Abstract
- This point layer is a subset of the NJ Transit passenger railroad stations shapefile file that has been combined with ridership data from the Port Authority of NY and NJ. The data was re-projected to NY state plane and contains just the PATH train stations that are in NYC. Annual, average weekday, and average weekend ridership is provided for 2012 to 2014. The unique ID is atis_id, a field created by NJ Transit. This layer was created as part of the NYC Geodatabase (NYC GDB) project, a resource designed for basic geographic analysis and thematic mapping within the five boroughs of New York City.
- Purpose
- This dataset is intended for researchers, policy makers, students, and educators for basic geographic analysis and thematic mapping purposes. It is appropriate for thematic and reference mapping at a city and county (borough) level and for thematic mapping at a sub-county (borough) level.
- Supplemental Information
- Annual, average weekday, and average weekend ridership is provided for 2012 to 2014 in fields labeled with the prefixes tot, avwkdy, and avwken respectively.

- Statement
- This layer is a subset of the NJ Transit passenger railroad station shapefile provided through the NJ Geographic Information Network. This subset contains just the PATH train stations that are located in NYC, reprojected to NY state plane. Annual station ridership data was extracted from reports published by the Port Authority and appended to each station. Annual, average weekday, and average weekend ridership is provided for 2012 to 2014. Figures for average weekend ridership were calcuated by taking the Saturday and Sunday totals and avearging them based on the numer of weekend days that year. Neither the weekday nor weekend averages include holidays, which PANYNJ tabulates separately. The unique ID is atis_id, a field created by NJ Transit. This layer was created as part of the NYC geodatabase (NYC GDB) project, a resource designed for basic geographic analysis and thematic mapping within the five boroughs of New York City.
